From the outside, the Sitagu Dhamma Vihara Theravada Buddhist Monastery looks like a typical residential house in suburban Maplewood, Minnesota. And it is a residence – not for a family, but for Burmese monks who are invited to come to Minnesota to help lead the first established Theravada Buddhist community. It is also so much more, serving as a temple, a funeral home, and a community center for Burmese immigrants in the Twin Cities.
